Dress in style the go hog wild, me oh my oh

Dr Seuss once said "I like nonsense, it wakes up the brain cells. Fantasy is a necessary ingredient in living, It's a way of looking at life through the wrong end of a telescope. Which is what I do, and that enables you to laugh at life's realities."
What a lovely old man.
Did you know that he was the one who made up the word nerd? And then people reading his books started using it in daily life.
I encourage you to laugh at life's realities sometime. It helps a lot, as long as you can stop and take some things seriously.

Which brings me to imaginism studios,
which completely fits the theme of this post, I think. Imaginism has some cool art on it, especially this one
by Kei Acedera. So that's how platypuses(platypi? platypo? platypeese?)are made!
Ponder this, pontificate upon it, I plead you!

Just close your eyes and then remember The thoughts you've locked away

First off, I would like to say that I am not a stalker. I just want to know, I just wonder. That's what they all say, right? But seriously! It's just this boy, who lives across from me. His window is level to mine, and I see him often, working at his desk, talking on the phone, but most especially playing his guitar. I am curious about him. I wonder how old he is, I wonder what his life is like, the rest of his family, I wonder if he sees me and wonders about my life. Sometimes I just look out the window before I go to bed and zone out with the view of another world right across from me.

It is a little window(no pun intended)into someone else's life. It may be a small one, but it is ever so interesting. I love to just watch and imagine. Once, the boy's mother came into his room and and saw me looking out my window at them. The shades were drawn for a week. The thing that I find most interesting is the fact that there is no sound. Have you ever listened to music without hearing it? It is the most fascinating thing. Many a night, this boy will take his guitar (electric) and pour his heart into it. You can see his body moving with the music, you can see his hands making it, you can feel the music coursing from him, but there is no sound. It is amazing to see these things, to use only one sense, for that is magnified when all the others are shut off. When you can hear the music as well, you never notice such things, but when you can't there is so much more passion that is seen.

That is what I like best.

I can walk on water, I can fly I will keep on fighting till I die

Have you ever had flaming cheese before? Saganaki. It sounds Asian, but it is Greek. I had been craving some for a while so my father took me to a nice little greek restaurant, where I promptly ordered my beloved saganaki. It is a hard greek cheese, I'm not sure what, but the waiter came to the table with the cheese in flames. THey must soak the cheese with alcohol first, which keeps it on fire but burns away anything that would make you drunk. As it is set on the table, it is expertly handled, still burning, by the waiter, who takes a fork and knife and flips it around and around, with blue and yellow flames shooting from it, until the fire is gone, almost magically. He then sprinkles some lemon on it, and departs. The first bite is the best. If this were paper I was writing on, the ink would be smudged because I am slobbering just thinking about it. It is crunchy on the outside, yet soft, and warm, and chewy, on the inside, and there is cheese flavor and fire flavor and tangy lemon flavor all perfectly mixed with the rough outside and melty inside and warmness everywhere. Mmmmmmm.......

And now, for something completely different!

I have just found the most awesome website, creaturesinmyhead.com. I love it. and then there's dead zebra, which has the coolest mystery shirt.
here's a cool creature, drawn by andrew bell.

I would have written more, except I have just read some horrible things I will soon post about as soon as possible. For now, these horrible things are keeping me from talking about good stuff, so,
unhappily yours,
Lola

Somebody is waiting in the hallway Somebody is falling down the stairs

So here in New York, just a little bit away from me, as many of you might know, a plane has crashed today. In the Hudson river. Read about it. The thing thats scares me most about this is that this could have happened to me. I was first alerted to this by bean, who said her mother had seen it out her window while she was working. Imagine glancing out your window and seeing that! It worries me. And just think, being someone on that plane, just taking off, and then finding yourself splashing down on the hudson. I can't even imagine it. I'm worried that it could happen to me. Even though bean reminds me that I have just the same if not an even greater risk of getting in an accident walking down the street, or in a car, etc., this just scares me.Photo credit:thenewyorktimes.com
To prove the point even more, My old friend just set her IM status to say that her sister could have been on that plane. Her sister was going to Louisiana, and she was scheduled to take the flight after that one. Thank God, or Buddha, or someone/something, that she did not decide to take the earlier flight! That makes you think about all the accident that could have happened to you, if something had only been a little different. It could have been her plane with the trouble.I think it was geese that had caused it. If they had just stopped to get water and rest a few hours longer... well, this might have been the same situation for different people. But thats the way life is, I guess, because if you missed those accidents, other people didn't, and the accidents you might have had, someone else might have missed. It amazes and confuses me about how much you can go into detail about what might have happened, until there are so many trillions of different colored threads just waving around without endings, just sort of frayed off the sides of the Rope of Life.

Look into your heart and you'll find that the sky is yours

So I had Henna done. Sorry about the graininess (sp?) of the picture, but that's all I could get on iPhoto. It's lovely, isn't it? It doesn't mean anything in particular. Henna is traditionally put on women for their marriage.
But I prefer to just decorate myself with it. To do henna is fairly simple.  You can buy it in a store in powder form, if you live in NYC, just mosey on down to little india someday. You then at home add honey and lemon juice(sorry for being vague) and make it gloppy. Then sit it by a heater in a covered bowl for a few hours, then add stuff. (really sorry, I didn't make it myself!) then you put it in either the traditional cones, or squeeze bottles. then either rub the skin with lemon/lime juice now, or after your henna is starting to crack. But that's later. You can now just draw the henna on yourself or others, wait a few hours for it to dry, and either rub it off to leave the stain, or wait for it to crumble off it's self.
this should help more than I did.
Henna-ed out,
Lola.

Its getting near dawn, when lights close their tired eyes

Looking back on my post this morning, I laugh. After having written this, I venture out of my room, through the jungle of laughing, hooting boys, swinging around the furniture. I went upstairs and found my father, and we ate a delicious mushroom artichoke leftover pasta garlic mash up fried quite quickly in a pan and then eaten just as quickly. Then there were cakes for the boys, and an (actually quite nice) rendition of happy birthday.  Needless to say, after food, the boys settled down and their brains were numbed by video games and computer games alike. A few of us played card games, and then the boys departed for the night, off to their respective homes. It was a nice evening, really.

What did they say Things I can't understand It's too close for comfort

I am going to complain. That's what's so great about blogging. You can complain and no one can tell you to shut up. I shouldn't have come home. I was supposed to stay away for the party, so my brothers could hang with their friends. I had no where to go. I came home. They came home. I am now holed up in my room, listening to adolescent boys be adolescent boys. It's actually quite interesting. Not to copy flower, but here they are...
"money money money... pushback."
"i can't see it! gus is in my way!"
"there's already a crack in my window! can you not crack it again?"
"that is such an awesome crack!"
"back up, I'm gonna.. livin breathin..."
"yo, watch out for the cable."
"go outside!" "stupid! heh, no seriously! I'm not joking."
screams, laughter, and banging come from all sides. I have never felt so claustrophobic in my own home.
"yo, i call china, dude!" "nah, i just got to your house. what time?" "nooo, this is my game!"
"zishbika! yo guys..."
"i need that, no!"
guitar strumming of someone who obviously knows nothing about a guitar ensues.
I guess I better leave, soon.

a purple little little lady will be perfect

in with the new year, out with the old, they always say...
but I prefer to think of it as which year in particular--old or new--doesn't really matter. Just do what you're doing, no matter which year it is.
don't let what time it is stop you! and don't be so fast to usher out the old year, no matter how disastrous it has been.
And don't be so fast trying to change yourself, either!

There are always improvements to make, but take a moment to reflect on all that you already are, and remember to remember these traits and keep them alive.
that's all I'm saying.

Life is like the seasons After winter comes the spring

In some of the blogs I read, the writers are writing great posts about the new year, and metaphors and similes and such, which I could do, but, well, I'm too lazy. And no, I don't think I resolve to be less lazy, because I'm too lazy to be less lazy. I don't mind, I'm happy enough being a little lazy.
But anyways, I didn't want to just present my resolutions because I felt they needed some explanation. Maybe someday when I'm not feeling so lazy I will write a mystical, profound post about the new year and resolutions, but for now, just imagine it. Look, I'm making you be creative!
If you really want it, I guess I would say that dandelions are a good analogy. They start as a seed, grow thick and bushy and yellow, and then slowly grow fragile and white, blowing away to start over again. And each of those seeds, they could be your resolutions, and depending on whether you keep them or not, or what they are, you land in the new year in a somewhat different place than before. But isn't that what the new year is all about?
My new year's resolutions are to:
1. Try more new activities and not care about what anybody thinks.
2. Work on my handwriting.
3. Worry less about the details, or what every single person could think.
4. Take more baths.(this is not to say that I have bad Hygiene, I take showers daily, it is to say that I enjoy baths more and should take some more often.)
5. Start, and hopefully finish, the navelist bible.(more on that later.)

Now, I am going to put this in an email and set it to send it to myself every month, as a reminder to actually do something this year!
