Once we set sail to catch a star

I just wanted to wish everyone a HAPPY TURKEY DAY!
(disclaimer:In no way, shape, or form, does this mean that I, Lola Bellybutton, endorses hurting any turkey of any kind. I am simply stating that it is the day of turkeys. And, frankly, I'm sick, and don't feel up to ranting cynically about how thanksgiving is bogus etc. etc., and i'm sure you've heard it before. So instead, just celebrate TURKEY DAY. And hey, why not even hug one? Find a nice, happy turkey, and hug him. And then take him home for dinner. You can share your opinions about the world over a nice steaming hot plate of tofurky. Enjoy!)

In the sunshine of your love

Don't try.
Just be.
She was laying
on the pavement
resting
her dark hair shining
and splayed out
her lips only slightly parted
in thought
and understanding.
She was not cold
you never could be when you lay
beneath the sun.
She was not angry
she could not hear the jeering taunts
for she had beautiful music
in her ears.
She was not scared
she could not see the children's feet
poised above her, readying themselves
to stomp, for her eyes were closed
as she drifted, drifted
peacefully away.

Its getting near dawn, when lights close their tired eyes

Looking back on my post this morning, I laugh. After having written this, I venture out of my room, through the jungle of laughing, hooting boys, swinging around the furniture. I went upstairs and found my father, and we ate a delicious mushroom artichoke leftover pasta garlic mash up fried quite quickly in a pan and then eaten just as quickly. Then there were cakes for the boys, and an (actually quite nice) rendition of happy birthday.  Needless to say, after food, the boys settled down and their brains were numbed by video games and computer games alike. A few of us played card games, and then the boys departed for the night, off to their respective homes. It was a nice evening, really.
